“Dougong”serves as a key element in traditional Chinese wooden architecture, distinguishing itself from the geometry-focused Western wooden architecture through its unique tectonic logic. The Dougong Pavilion aims to explore the potential of this structure system by utilizing modern engineering wood, particularly thin plywood less than 2cm in thickness, to create an airy space. The design is based on the study of the construction logic of cascading force within “Dougong”, analyzing the relationship of load transmission among various members. Each component is intersected in an oblique manner.
