SYMBOLPLUS OFFICE transforms a 23-year-old timber building in Tokyo into a workplace that redefines the meaning of the office in a hybrid era. Instead of demolition, the project embraced continuity, using red earth plaster, reclaimed Tosa washi layered for strength, and traditional carpentry without metal fittings. Movable shoji partitions and rotating ceiling panels create flexibility, adapting to diverse work styles and times while remaining in quiet dialogue with the building’s rhythm and memory. More than an office, it embodies enduring values rooted in place, craft, and cultural continuity.
