LAMAS is an award-winning studio that blends design and research in practice. We are practitioners and academics, equally invested in pragmatics and discursive research. On one hand, we explore the craftsperson’s hands-on approach, and on the other, we engage with architectural history and technology. We examine the tension between geometric purity and the playful optics of ornamentation. We work across a range of scales, from ground-up residential to manufacturing and commercial spaces. Each project we undertake draws from these core ideas; the most successful balancing these dualities.
