The Kuilongfang project in Lianjiang, Fujian, exemplifies an excellent regeneration of historic public space in small Chinese towns. Halting reckless urbanization, this initiative transformed a neglected historic district into a vibrant cultural hub by integrating residential, cultural, and commercial functions. Utilizing local materials and craftsmanship, Kuilongfang promotes sustainability and community cohesion. Following this regeneration, Kuilongfang now serves as a central community space and cultural incubator in the province, setting a precedent for revitalizing small historical towns.
