[Yiming Xia - Tana Life Ring——The Revitalization Plan for the Upper Reaches of the Tana River Basin - COVER IMG] We re-planned the topography and land use of Murang'a County within the Tana River Basin, with water at the core, connecting the surrounding farmlands of the site, developing fishery, establishing a good living environment, and also providing habitats.

In May 2024, the Tana River suffered a catastrophic flood, inundating 83% of Bantu's farmland and devastating fisheries. The project is located in Murang'a County, Kenya, in the upper reaches of the Tana River. Excessive reclamation in this area has caused severe soil erosion and water storage losses, thus leading to the cycle of water and drought. Therefore, we propose to take the "water corridor" as the core, integrate agriculture, fishery and habitat restoration, and form an ecological closed loop with the synergy of the four elements, providing options for post-disaster reconstruction.
