If a leaf falls in a forest and no one was around to hear it, does it make a sound? The Tide Organ is a project that provokes the subject to listen to the respirsation of the ecosystem, as if it were living instrument. Inspired by the imagery of the Hudson River pile fields, set atop Pier 45 at the Hudson River Park, the Tide Organ is a structural installation that harnesses the sonic qualities of its surroundings, amplifying the presence of the often neglected and voiceless, yet vital biological and environmental agents of the Hudson River Estuary ecosystem.
