Afer Han River reinterprets Korean architectural values in modern housing. Diagonal height limits became a design tool, forming stepped terraces over 2 meters wide for each unit. Inspired by hanok courtyards, these terraces bring nature into daily life and turn private balconies into semi-public zones encouraging neighborly interaction. Interior windows enable subtle, flexible communication between rooms. Proposing a “balcony society,” the project transforms thresholds into shared spaces, reviving community life in a dense urban context.
