The Backcountry Hut Company was founded in 2015 with the goal of creating high quality recreational structures that could be easily assembled in remote locations - ideally suited for Fogo Island. The Fogo Island Hut is an installation of the Backcountry Hut Company’s ‘System 02’ prefabricated kit-of parts architectural system. It was pre-fabricated and assembled on site in ten days. The building footprint is 540 square feet, with 190 sf of exterior deck space. The interior consists of two levels and a mezzanine, with a total of approximately 700 square feet of interior living space.
