The library is located next to the Agua Prieta and Douglas border crossing in the Sonoran Desert, through which approximately six thousand people pass daily, who lacked a shaded space, a place to sit, or a bathroom. This construction approaches the border wall in an unprecedented way and creates an open elevated walkway that serves as a gateway to the city of Agua Prieta, Sonora. The library, elevated by arches, becomes a public stage for binational events and opens towards the park to transform a desolate place into a recreational and cultural space.
