Crow’s Nest comprises 254 student ensuite bedrooms, social facilities, health centre and café for University College Cork. The landmark cluster of towers at Victoria Cross creates a gateway to the historic core of the city. Four tall living blocks rise from a podium garden, a fifth smaller tower provides a portal from ground level. The site’s location is unique and demanded a unique response. The design solution is innovative - instead of a perimeter building blocking light, upper levels are carried in slim vertical towers with large cuts for light, air and views.
