The design of the revitalized Delacorte matches the existing footprint at its base. The new exterior façade cants slightly outward, the conical form giving an enhanced presence while adding space inside the grandstand. The facade is vertically textured with various lengths of small-scale wood cladding, sourced from decommissioned water towers across NYC. It plays with light and shadow, changing with the sun angle and complementing the natural dappled light from the surrounding trees and foliage. A new covered canopy and widened bluestone pathway will welcome more visitors and provide shelter.
