The power plant is located by the glittering water, at the end of the Tampere marina. Its central location between the historically valuable Lapinniemi spa and the new residential area Tampella makes it a visible part of the cityscape, right by the very heart of the downtown area. The aim of the work was to highlight one part of the power plant in a unique way, leaving the other parts resting in its subtle shadow. We designed the facade to alter according to the time of day, and its ever-changing daylight. This was achieved with the help of large, more than 26-feet tall 3D facade elements.
