The organization around a courtyard answers the clients request for symmetry in a way that transcends being purely compositional, structuring the relation between public and private spaces while allowing the rest of the site to be green. The combined circulation allows a frank relationship with the car absent in most suburban houses. The materials used are in their integral form - the rigorous detailing and limited palette creates a comtemplative space, while framing unexpected views of the neighborhood - a building that both fits within and stands apart from its context.
