This project explores how the concept of sacredness can guide the adaptive reuse of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Halifax. Through the metaphor of repointing brick and mortar, the design renews the church’s structure and spirit by weaving a library, makerpods, and exhibition space into the Gothic nave. Translating sacred rituals into spaces for learning, making, and gathering, it transforms a deconsecrated church into a living place of community, creativity, reflection, and belonging for all where sacredness endures through shared creation.
