The research proposes transforming the urban block and a former coffee roasting factory of collective importance in Santurce, Puerto Rico into residential and multi-use workshops for artisans and artists. The intention is to contribute to the socio-environmental well-being of the Santurce area in solidarity with collective management. The proposed program invites the surrounding communities to create a sense of co-existence and support new social dynamics. The design is sustained on principles of solidarity design, adaptive re-use and reframing the past through contrasting materials.
