The design intends to create a transparent, open and flowing public space for reading in the nature of the wetland. By stripping the original building down to its basic structural components—concrete beams and columns—and introducing a series of new “structures,” the design reorders the previously chaotic framework, generating a series of spatial fields deeply connected to nature. Within the fluid space of the bookstore, diverse types of reading spaces are created, offering visitors moments of pause and immersion.
