The house is conceived as a dwelling beneath a canopy, echoing the filtered light of the mature oaks that line the street. A central void opens like a forest clearing, where daylight pools and drifts into surrounding rooms. On its generous Vancouver Westside lot, the home offers sanctuary for a young family, balancing presence and withdrawal. Stucco, cedar, and board-formed concrete form an elemental palette attuned to shifting light and shadow. Movement unfolds gradually, from recessed entry to cascading light—an architecture of stillness and atmosphere.
