Gongu Izakaya is a modern interpretation of Japanese dining culture, embedded within Riga’s historic bricks and arches. Timber grids bring calm and order, shoji screens transform light into intimacy, and torii-inspired portals echo Japanese symbolism. Arches create smooth transitions between spaces, welcoming guests to explore. The communal table introduces a sense of dynamism and shared space, encouraging interaction among guests. At the center stands the gong. Once a design detail, it became the soul of the space and gave the restaurant its name—inviting guests to share unforgettable moments
