Metropol Parasol in Seville, Spain, designed by German architect Jürgen Mayer and completed in 2011, is one of the world’s largest wooden structures. Located at Plaza de la Encarnación, it comprises six interconnected parasols rising up to 26 meters high. Inspired by Seville Cathedral vaults and local rubber trees, the honeycomb-like canopy offers shade and houses an archaeological museum, market, restaurants, and panoramic terraces. It revitalizes the historic square blending contemporary design with cultural heritage.
