Built in 2021, the memorial in Pasta de Conchos, Coahuila, honors 65 miners who lost their lives in an accident. Set across 2,639 m², it features 65 totems made of compacted-earth walls with layered colors that evoke the site’s geology and mining memory. Each totem bears a name plate for one miner, lit by the sun on the accident’s anniversary. Extending over 200 meters, linear intervention integrates ventilation, lighting, safety, and structure as reflections of miners’ deficient work conditions. The memorial creates a dialogue with landscape, offering a space for remembrance and justice.
