Place des Montréalaises

Place des Montréalaises is a grand gesture at a critical juncture in Montreal’s urban fabric, reunifying downtown with Old Montreal across the Ville-Marie expressway. An inclined plane of 86 planted perforations becomes a living memorial: a vast bouquet offered to the women of Montreal, its 21 perennial species each honouring one of the 21 women commemorated, transforming infrastructure into a meadow, belvedere, and gathering place. A monumental staircase engraved with a field of letters, a polished shroud mirroring the skyline, and a forested plaza woven commemoration into everyday urban life
