In Karjat, Maharashtra, the Bridge House by Wallmakers spans a dam spillway as a habitable suspension structure, reconnecting land divided by infrastructure while preserving the monsoon ravine below. Rather than occupying the ground, the dwelling is drawn between two edges, minimizing ecological impact. A catenary form stabilizes the structure through gravity and tension. The exterior is clad in locally sourced straw thatch, while interior surfaces are hand-finished with mud from the site, creating a dwelling that feels both engineered and deeply rooted in place.
