Hongqiao Theatre(Yangzhou) and Daicun Theatre(Hangzhou) are derelict town theatres in East China’s Jiangsu‑Zhejiang region. Geographically close, they feature similar architecture of local public culture. Hongqiao began as a 1959 assembly hall and turned into a theatre in 1979, hosting operas, films and community events until closing in the late 1990s. Built in early‑1980s, Daicun showed films and performances. Obsoleted by household TVs, it was fully abandoned after 2010. Both preserve decayed ceilings, worn seats and faded curtains, recording China’s township public‑cultural history.
