Churchill College, Interior

Churchill College provides a series of rich and dramatic spaces expressed in brick and concrete. This series focuses on the grand stair that leads off the main internal 'street' from the college entrance, and up to the expansive dining hall. The very broad stair entices one off the street with a light-filled landing and views across the college, before turning back on itself towards the dining hall. Here, concrete vaults flat high above, but a lower datum is provided by the suspended lighting.
