The red volume at AKM does not sit in the space — it displaces it. Fifteen thousand hand-cast glazed ceramic tiles, curving from deep crimson at the crown to amber at the base, generate the building's entire circulatory logic: the sweeping balustrades, the branching stairs, the terraced voids. I photographed this series across a single day, following the spatial pressure outward from the volume to its edges — and finally through the curtain wall to the city beyond. Ember is an attempt to describe architecture as a force rather than a fact.
