The Sino-Finnish Cooperation and Exchange Centre is a 210,000 sqm mixed-use complex in Nanjing South New Town, China, commissioned as a national demonstration project for sustainable building. Integrating cultural, conference, exhibition, hotel and office functions, it creates a landmark with strong public life and an ambitious environmental strategy. The core design concept of “breaking ice” expresses intercultural dialogue through fragmented, ice crystal-inspired volumes with prismatic double-skin façades. Set within a water landscape, the structures evoke floating ice blocks.
