DAIKOSHA - Shangzao

Located in Dongwusutu Village Hohhot, the project is the restaurant and teahouse of the DAIKOSHA - Courtyard rural retreat. The design adopts a low-intervention approach, preserving the original red brick walls, timber structure, and door and window openings, while introducing glass tea rooms, corridors, and raised platforms to reorganize the spatial relationships, creating a more intimate and layered environment. Through subtle restoration and functional upgrades, including improved heating systems, the old courtyard compound regains vitality and relevance in contemporary rural life.
