Set in the forests of Karuizawa, this project explores architecture as a device mediating the relationship between people and nature. Developed over nearly a decade through collaboration, it forms part of a landscape with dog-friendly facilities and open spaces. Rather than dissolving boundaries, it frames them, allowing the forest to pass through while maintaining enclosure. A three-layered roof brings daylight, creating a calm atmosphere. Using simple timber, local craftsmanship, and minimal concrete and metal, the project demonstrates how modest means create a refined environmental response.
