A residence facing the Kuji Cylindrical Water Divider, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. Originally built to distribute water fairly to the surrounding rice fields, it is now cherished as a local place of rest, with the gentle sound of flowing water. Responding to this historic water infrastructure and the landscape of the public square, the house connects the town and everyday life through a brick-paved engawa space that opens onto the walkway. Bringing cherry blossoms and the waterscape into each place within the home, it is a vessel for living with the passage of time.
