Inhabited Mud reimagines Colorado’s earth-building traditions as a customizable, low-carbon housing system for dry climates. Inspired by the region’s wind-sculpted canyon walls, it uses site-sourced mud and plant fibers to create a 3D-printed climate shell that integrates openings, vents, and furniture. An interior service wall houses appliances and MEP, while lightweight sawdust-based pods let rooms adapt to changing needs. Through AI customization, robotic fabrication, and full-scale testing, the project turns local earth into flexible homes that may one day return harmlessly to the ground.
