Bavi Heritage reimagines a former stone and woodworking complex in Ba Vi, Vietnam, as a retreat rooted in the memory of its site. Rather than clearing the forest for new construction, the design works with what already exists: mature trees, natural clearings, existing paths, terrain, and remnants of the former craft complex. New pavilions are carefully placed within forest gaps and rise vertically to minimize their footprint. Old structures are adapted, while new ones remain distinct. Through this approach, adaptive reuse becomes a way of allowing the site itself to shape the architecture.
