This 1970s residence—once home to a local scholar—has been reimagined through an approach rooted in preservation and continuity. The spatial organization also draws from Beipu’s traditional settlement logic of living “by the water, facing the mountains.” Stone, earthen finishes, and timber create a tactile palette of natural, unrefined textures, shaping the residence into a gathering point between local culture and visiting travelers. Materials themselves become carriers of meaning: handcrafted finishes and the raw qualities of cut stone gradually build the spatial narrative.
