In response to an overbuilt world, this project reframes adaptive reuse as a generative design strategy rather than a constraint. Working within Beijing’s 1961 Fu Sui Jing Building, a rare collective housing prototype, it transforms a failed model of communal living into a new form of interior urbanism. Linear corridors are replaced by inhabitable “streets,” and dwelling units are reorganized as flexible clusters balancing privacy and collectivity. A layered three-dimensional façade extends the building into a living archive of occupation, mediating between public and private.
