Beyond Rediscovery: Reclaiming Alijan Jute Mill as a Living Productive Landscape- Fatiha Tanjim Oni
Abandoned industrial sites in Bangladesh face erasure or fossilization. The Alijan Jute Mill on the Meghna River stands at this edge, amid climate risk, economic decline, and worker displacement. This project transforms the colonial era factory into a handicraft market; a worker-centered, river-resilient heritage district where adaptive landscapes, mixed housing, light industry, and cultural spaces reconnect production, memory, and community through New Contextualism.
