The Gables is inspired by the story of an unfinished Santa Monica Beach Club from the 1920s. The concept was to create the feeling of an independent community eatery that represented its beach-side locality. A range of materials throughout creates a contrast of everyday finishes, such as white-washed wood, glazed custom tiles and mid-century air-bricks, with aspirational touches of brass, poured concrete and Carrera marble. A whimsical mural by a local artist overlooks the seating, and a vertical garden cascades down the patio wall, inviting both locals and visitors alike to dine in comfort.
