Jinfeng Qiu, an esteemed architectural photographer and founder of Beyondvision Photography, has transitioned from a successful career in commercial photography to focus on his true passion—architecture. His award-winning project, “AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION HOTEL in NANJING CHINA,” captured in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China, and honored by the Architecture Photography MasterPrize, showcases his exceptional talent and dedication. We had the pleasure of speaking with Jinfeng to learn more about his journey and the inspirations behind his remarkable work.
Jinfeng Qiu: I was a commercial photographer for more than ten years. When I found my love for architecture growing stronger, I made great efforts to become an architectural photographer.
Jinfeng Qiu: It’s a very special hotel in Nanjing, China, designed by PIA Thailand. Its predecessor was a cement factory in the Republic of China, so it has a strong industrial style.
Jinfeng Qiu: I think the most outstanding aspect of these pictures is the cold tone and highlighted orange, which is based on my understanding of this industrial-style architecture.
Jinfeng Qiu: I love these pictures and spent a lot of time adjusting colors. Getting ‘Best of Best’ surprised me a lot.
Jinfeng Qiu: When I was a commercial photographer, I often traveled to see different kinds of buildings or well-designed interiors and took pictures of them. It often made me excited, so I decided to become an architectural photographer.
Jinfeng Qiu: I think it should be Balthazar Korab; I like his works.
Jinfeng Qiu: Photography makes architecture an eternal image and lets people appreciate the beauty of architecture from the perspective of a photographer. Photographers are the bridge between architects and society.
Jinfeng Qiu: I am very grateful to AMP for letting the world see my work, and I look forward to having the opportunity to shoot excellent buildings around the world in the future.
We sincerely thank Jinfeng Qiu for sharing his insights and showcasing his exceptional work on the “AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION HOTEL in NANJING CHINA.” His commitment to capturing the essence of architecture through photography is incredibly inspiring, highlighting the significant influence that thoughtfully designed spaces can have on our lives and communities.
