A vertical study community, integrates different learning functions and adapts to local climate with a high porosity space system. It attempts to break with the monotony and repetitiveness that are characteristic of long-time primary school design in China and to explore new school typologies that manage to adapt the changing educational system. Using cost-efficiency and honesty of material as a starting point, the “water-washed sandstone” facade intentionally reveals the underlying nature of construction and produces a distinct morphological aesthetics under the rapid pace of urbanization.
