The Museum of Prehistory sits in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, where relics dating back 5,000 years have been unearthed. The design utilizes ‘excavation, backtracking, and juxtaposition’ to point out the complex relationship between space and time. The building appears as if chiseled out from a massive basalt block, inlaid with strips of steel and aluminum. The basalt absorbs light, the aluminum reflects it, creating a geometric pattern when the sun hits the surface. These gleaming lines decoded the enigma of the interior spaces, exhibiting the cross section of its structure within.
