Inspired by the site’s natural and cultural context, the design creates a “museum of modern and contemporary art among the reeds.” The façade of sandblasted aluminum tubes with staggered tri-color panels projects a deliberately ambiguous expression. At ground level, fair-faced concrete with cedar grain finish forms an open “art village” for the public. Ticketed galleries start on the second floor, where a steel system enables flexible spaces, including a 22.5 by 100-meter column-free hall. The lobby opens to sweeping riverscape views, affirming the museum as a welcoming cultural landmark.
