From an Isolated Historical Fortress to a Shared Community Hub
The 800-year-old Duogong Fortress in China, once isolated due to structural decay, topographic constraints, vegetative barriers, and urban fabric fragmentation, has been revitalized through a multidisciplinary approach integrating heritage conservation and urban regeneration. The intervention addressed spatial disconnection through restoration of historical layers, implementation of universal-access circulation systems, strategic vegetation management with observing decks, and community-oriented service facilities, transforming the isolated historical fortress into a shared community hub.
