Bathu ki Ladi, meaning a row of temples built from Bathu stone, rests within the waters of Maharana Pratap Sagar in Himachal Pradesh. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and dating to the 8th or 9th century, the complex is crafted in Nagara style with shikharas, sculpted doorframes and pillared halls. Submerged most of the year, it reappears in summer when the lake recedes. Local lore tells that the Pandavas built it during exile and began a staircase to heaven, left unfinished, its mythology entwined with the enduring stonework rising from the water.
