The Association of Siamese Architects office is located on a highway in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The city is also known as the capital of “Lanna kingdom”, the land of a million of rice fields. The design aims to combine local culture identity with present requirements. Thus the image of rice field with vernacular timber pavilion is created on the rooftop to evoke a sense of nostalgia. While function rooms such as office, library and a multi-purpose room are tugged underneath and arranged from low space volume at the front to higher the back of the site, creating the stepping rice field landform.
