The notion of death is often associated with misfortune and funerary infrastructures are unwelcomed by the public in Hong Kong. Currently, spatial and operational efficiencies often compromise user experiences in existing urban death infrastructures. This project utilizes the potential of obsolete territories, specifically quarries, as an active response to the impending public health and environmental issue. Through reconnecting humans and the landscape, the proposal acts as an experiment to reappropriate these unique typologies, to rethink and reorientate priorities of funerary experiences.
