This project responds to desertification and economic challenges on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau through a strategy of “Nomadic Permanence.” Permanence anchors ecological restoration, while nomadism enables seasonal adjustments and mobility in response to shifting landscapes. Architecture can act as a mediator of becoming—anchoring the ground against desertification while remaining open to nomadic rhythms. It proposes modular sandbag architecture that literally uses sand to defend against sand, including a greenhouse, emergency shelter, and sun-drying pavilion.
