A ‘70s modern addition by British architect John Honer (later Barbican’s Executive Architect), obscured by ‘90s renovations, was restored and reinterpreted in this rural farmhouse. Guided by his found drawings and Barbican parallels, key design moves- simple lines, deep overhangs, vertical siding, and large-format wood windows- were reinstated. Contemporary interiors balance the 1970s language with a rural palette and heirlooms. Highly sustainable systems (ground-source heat pump, solar panels, upgraded insulation) ensure modern performance, recovering a lost modernist vision in its landscape.
