How to Define Construction Law in Architectural Terms Martin André Roy and Mélanie Bastien, lawyers and spouses, bought a commercial ground floor shop window, a former bakery, to establish their construction law practice. Construction Law, their field of activity, was defined through a single architectural element—a wooden sculpture integrating all functions. It is made from 244 slats of glued-laminated timber decking (14'-4'' long, 16'' wide and 2 1/2'' thick), ordered and delivered on site. One rule was imposed on the contractor: only straight cuts were allowed.
