The EAIC is an experimental hub for energy research and incubation at Ohio State University. The building and its design are all about Energy, supporting research and development of the next generation of smart energy systems and renewable energy. With an expansive solar canopy, DC-microgrid and polycarbonate facade, the building is designed for efficiency. The EAIC massing is driven by solar setbacks, ensuring adjacent buildings cast no shadow on the solar canopy. The canopy provides afternoon shade to the public space below, animating the façade while maximizing solar energy collection.
