Lisbon is a labyrinth of narrow streets and period architecture brimming with character and charm. Just a stone's throw away on the seafront is the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. The striking new extension is otherworldly in its scale, materiality and curvaceous form. To capture these qualities, I got up at the crack of dawn for several reasons. I wanted to avoid large crowds that would detract from the building, but to feature a few runners in the images, providing scale to the monolithic structure. The early morning golden rays emphasise the form and material of the facade.
