We designed a hotel in Miyazu City, northern Kyoto facing the Sea of Japan, by converting a 50-year-old welfare center. While utilizing the existing concrete structure, we created a space where old and new elements harmonize delicately, allowing guests to feel the essence of Miyazu. Local traditional materials like Tango chirimen silk and Kurotani washi paper are used symbolically, combined with new materials such as wood, stone, and glass. This hotel aims to become a new hub connecting the history and culture of the Tango area to the future, fostering vitality and interaction.
